Lūm is a console table created in collaboration with Chris Perron. While Perron's work usually consists of curvilinear forms, my own style is often more geometric. Finding a complimentary combination of our two styles became our main design objective. We were inspired by the nature of the parabolic arch created with multiple arraying strands. By creating curves from straight lines was the perfect pairing of our styles. It was also critical for every aspect of our design to have a purpose and intent. We decided to create a storage basket underneath this table through the weaving of arches, while the surface texture created on top prevent keys or other objects from sliding off the table.
